Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

Translation of the Preface from the Carmelite Missal:

Truly it is right and just, profitable and salutary, for us always and everywhere to give thanks: O holy Lord, Father almighty, eternal God, who through a light cloud rising up from the sea, wondrously foreshadowed the Immaculate Virgin Mary to Blessed Elias (Elijah) the Prophet: and wished her cult to be furnished by the sons of the prophets. Those, however, whom the Blessed Virgin (on this very day) has selected as sons of goodwill through the holy Scapular, would you also deign, all the sooner, to lead them clothed by the same [scapular] and dying piously with it, to your holy mountain. And therefore, with the Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with the whole militia of the heavenly army, we sing a hymn of your glory, without end saying: Sanctus, etc.
